Mathijs,
I am growing increasingly convinced, based on what I see in the 57 forum and on what 57 collectors are showing me privately, that something happened when S&L started new production for "1957 version" pieces. Maybe it had new and different die presses, maybe there was some general damage in their die storage area (fire?), maybe the dies had been improperly stored/cleaned after their last use (whenever that was), but there seem to be a number of flaws on different products (not just RK's) which suddenly appear, virtually overnight and with no "progression" previously observable on earlier pieces. I will look forward to what emerges on the 57 forum in the future, as there is a lot of knowledge there (way beyond my own) which could be very useful to determine the "real" S&L story.
Best,
Leroy
