I don't believe I have ever encountered this type/style of cross.

Hi Nick :
The connecting bead gave me a starting point to look under my S&L files and had a quick match with a 123 marked EK2 . The front core date has a unique feature .... the first 9 is a tad low/short on top . Yours is off a young new die compared to the marked one which is worn and has die flaws on the beading .
