    oaks and swords on estand

    Hello-

I am sure this does not come up very often. Would anyone who is familiar with oaks and swords care to comment on the piece on the estand?

    Thanks

Considering Kai Winkler has a set of oaks for $18500 euros, which is about $21,000, a cased oaks with swords I would expect would bring that much if real. Anyone with oaks and swords out there have any comments on this piece as well as the price? Thanks

Is this a bad time to bring up the word restrikes?

A possibility that a $40 investment in the '70's is worth $33,000 today? That's some profit! I can't imagine a Type II example for this kind of money.

I'd say that this is the current market price for an original set. From what I can see they look fine, although as with everything one would be advised to have them in hand...

Thanks for the thread, Peter. It looks like a real landmine issue.

                  Oaks & Swords

I see the possé is forming for another lynching . . .

This is a "textbook" set of 900/21 Swords in an original case. I HAVE held them in my hand and checked them. The seller is only 3-4 towns away from my office. In fact I believe Igor (the seller - and this set) will be at the show this Saturday in New Jersey if any members would like to see them.

As to the price - I have an "extra" cased set in my collection in Germany which I am offering at the present time for 27.000,00 Euros (That is $33,507.00 today). I also sold another set recently for a little more than that amount. Detlev sold his last cased set (a few months ago) for 24.000,00 euro ($29,800.00) - I believe - because I bought them.

Rather than post speculation and blanket statements why not email our e-stand sellers and ask questions, or request additional photos. I know from my past experience selling on the e-stand this would be welcome - and much more in the spirit of the forum community.

If someone truly knows there is something wrong with an item on the e-stand; why don't you post a photo of a correct piece, you own, to illustrate to our members your concerns. IMHO this would be a lot more productive.

                  Regards,
                  Rich Moran

Rich, you're making a joke, right? I didn't read it that way at all. High end items will always come with caution and hesitation. Tom's first post was polite and asking. Chris gave a positive comment with good advice to hold them in the hand. Brian gave a real world warning that these are heavily copied back in the 70's. You also are very experienced with these. As for the other 90% of the membership here, we can only imagine and discuss (with envy).

Dear Lord, please let me win the lottery.

Thank you Rich, as always the voice of reason. I have grown more than a bit weary of irresponsible innuendos and blanket statements; they will no longer be tolerated. If someone has a accountable comment to make and would like to open up a discussion feel free. Otherwise, sit down.

                            Thanks Seba,

As usual, you are able to say something in one sentence that it took me a short story.

                            Best regards,

I think its not about if its a "fake" but instead if its a possible restrike.
I can only dream about awards like this and will never be able to own one.

                              Cheers.
