    Ek1 l/58

I wanted to show you my new EK1 mm'ed L/58 on the pin. I never saw a "Orth-style" L/58 EK1 before so I thought that could be interesting.

    Enjoy.

          Nice catch, Stefan!
They are rare in common (pin-marked) , but I never saw one with an Orth-core....

Stefan, is the swaz uneven on this one? The reason I ask is because I have two marked SBs, one brass core one iron and the swaz's are uneven on both, don't know why, maybe the previous owners got sandpaper happy whilst removing the paint?

Really nice and rare wartime example in my opinion.
              Best regards,

Hi Chris! The swaz is indeed uneven but i think the paint loss results from honest wear.

                Many greetings, Stefan

                  Nice Souval ;-)
But the core is imo not Orth.

it 's a very nice cross Stefan but about core I have to agree with the other 5tefan, this one is Souval cored (as it has to be).

                      Hello Fabri

It would be very much appreciated if you would elaborate on your comment "this one is Souval cored (as it has to be)".

                          Hello,

I'd like to know why you say that also. It lacks the Dipped 3 and fat swas I normally associate with a Souval core whereas it has the thin armed swas I feel is representative of an Orth product.

                          Regards,
                          Stu

                            sure, these are the answers:
                            1) Souval did not use just the date with the so called dipped 3, this one is another core already used on EKIIs, unmarked and 98 marked.
                            2) Souval was the supplier for Orth and not the opposite so you can not find an Orth core in a Souval cross, neither the frame, etc.

                              Hello,

                              Thank you for your reply.

Regarding your second point; How do you know the supply went one way only between Orth and Souval? Maybe I'm out of date with my knowledge but I was under the impression that Orth used the Souval frames with their own cores.

                              Regards,
                              Stu
