The only consern i have is that the Iron Cross has rusted alot, but the Eastern front medal is in rather good shape. Is that possible ?

                  Cheers.

Chris my thought aswell...Peter has a fast hand!
The backing is very odd and sophmoric in construction....very unlike what a 'tailor' or other craftsman would produce.

the east medal has a white powdery residue all over it.if that helps and not iron

The Eastern front medal is not known to last long. If the Iron Cross has rusted that way, i would expect more aging on Eastern front medal.

                        Cheers.

yes that is a good point. i notice that the east medal ring is re crimped which may suggest that another east medal has been put on in replace of another that may of as you say corroded more than the ek2. the rust on the ek2 is only surface on closer inspection with no great pits into the core. the paint has lifted which is the main damage.i took the risk of a quick rub and it shows no pitting only loss of paint.

I think it is a put together or at its best, tampered with. Did you pay alot ?

                            Cheers.

One thing to note is that the eastern front medal should be before the SS medal on the bar.
EK2-Ostfront-SS is the right set up.
Having said that, sometimes these rules where ignored.
Herr Lundstrom might know the final answer on this one.
