I think I agree with Alex on this, and it's not an übergroße cross either (not the 'known' type anyway).

Like the others say a period photo montage.

If you go to this image on the German Federal Archives you can see a high res version and it is quite clear it is a montage.

probably...but take a look at the shadow of EKII , same shadow of the heat, and why they have painted a shadow and a EKII ubergrosse and not a regular RK ? I see me too the svastika on EKII with not very good details.....oakleaves don't seam like painted....
