It is a Souval piece and I would say per-45.

Is there any distinguishing features to 'pre', and 'post' 1945 souvals?
                regards

Jon, now that's a very compelling question, simply put ,that I'm unsure has been asked previously!

                    Hey Jon,

Looks like a nice "salty" looking EKI. Definitely original in my opinion.

                    Best regards! Tom

I could be misremembering, but I seem to recall that what post-war Souval EKs I have seen (marked "L/58") have been totally different from those accepted as wartime -- different pins, hinges, even different obverses. (If I'm wrong, I'd love to be corrected! )

                        Yes, interesting.

Dietrich and Tom, what makes it "definately original" and "I would say pre '45". Can you guys explain what you look for in wartime Souval EK's and why it makes them pre '45?
