That loop looks as if it could be plated brass. If you breathe on it, can you see brass showing through the worn plate?? Plated brass loops like this with the roughly pointed ends were used on the Danish L/12 RK fakes of the 1980s.

It looks brassy in the pics, but not in reality. Interesting about the Danish fakes - any pics?
