I saw a 65 marked ek1 at a gun show this morning, it was in very good condtion but I had a couple of flags go up, the mm looked ok so did the pin and hinge, the catch was sq,stock and the silver on the back looked to new, the curved edges of the outside of the cross looked line something had scraped them and you get the stick and slip look, dont know if I am explaining it right, any way, was not sure so let it go, got a good deal on an 1884 springfield trapdoor and bayonet though. but that is for another forum, any pics of fake 65s?

Hello Migileto,
Hard to say whether the piece was good or not without seeing pictures of the cross. If you were uncertain about the piece, and if a few flags went up, then you certainly did the right thing by passing on the item. Check out this link to an epier auction page. This is apparently a new fake '65' EKI as I have never seen one like this before. It is not at all accurate, but it is a brand new fake in my opinion.

if I had to guess the cross was original. the mark was perfect with known originals. the front I did not have refrence to check but looked ok, the catch was square stock bent like a zimmerman but I thought that it should be half round like an L/11 he was asking 225 uncased, a little steep in my opinion,

Hello Ken,
That EKI on epier looks like one of those "Floch" fakes that have been plaguing this hobby for years. Now it seems that they are available in a '65' as well. I'm sure that eventually we will see them with just about every number imaginable.
Best regards! Tom
BTW: I was just in Gettysburg, Pa. last week. Great town! It's like my second home.Mihi libertas necessest!

After taking another look at the pictures of that cross, I agree.
Another Floch, for sure. The position of the date is a dead giveaway
on those. I always refer to them as the "near dates". Floch just
won't go away will he?
BTW. Gettysburg will be filled with guest this coming weekend.
Another july 4th celebration weekend. Tourist form all over.
I live in the country, five miles south of town and will be avoiding
that area altogether. The town is just too small to hold all those
people at one time.

Ken
