    cloth DKIG question

Hi - I saw a cloth DKIG for sale. I have not seen a photo of the back, but I am going to inspect it soon. The owner tells me that it has 2 metal prongs (his words) coming out of the back. I have never seen this before. Is this something they did in the Third Reich, or is it a Fourth Reich thing? Thanks.

You will need to post photos for us to tell if it's good or not. I can tell you the cloth DK's did have prongs for the wreath to attach to the cloth. Usually you won't see the prongs because of the backing paper and the way it's sewn.

      Sniper,

Conduct a few searches under the "Crosses" forum to familiarize yourself with authentic examples. Pay particular attention to the date in the wreath, as a good indicator is the "flaw" you will most often see in the '9'.

      Good luck!

The wreath is held in place by four, flat metal prongs. These prongs are often visible on the reverse - especially if some of the paper backing has been lost.

The way the seller described these 2 (not 4) prongs suggested to me that they were meant to be used to fasten the Cross to a Tunic. I guess either I was wrong, or he he missed the other 2 - or perhaps the other 2 are missing. A distinct possibility if the paper or cloth has been removed. I guess I'll pass on it. I don't like fooled with items. Thanks for the photos.
