That cross looks like a '24' to me.

That would explain the mistake reading the mark (24 vs. 84).

New update: Added a Juncker variant ("common L/12" frame, unmarked); moved "small frame Juncker" into Unknown Makers for lack of evidence; same with "long flaw Juncker," and added a note linking the latter to the Lug variant. Added notes about Lug and Long Flaw core types.

Please let me know if something is missing from this list!
