1939 EK2 Master List

I thought it would be interesting to see if we could come up with a list of every EK2 variant currently known to exist, whether the maker is known or not.

I know this is incomplete (for example, different stamps, ancillary marks on "24" EK2s, etc), but here is a list to get us started. Please suggest additions and I will update the list to reflect them.

Some suggested guidelines: nothing unique, like mis-stamps or upside-down cores. Let's keep this to legitimate variants that can reasonably be collected by others. Known frame and core variations are fair game, but if there is some doubt as to whether or not two frames or cores really are different from one another, or just due to die-wear, flaws developed over time, or paint problems, we'll leave it as a single variant to be safe. Any discussions can break off into separate threads if need be.

I don't see the straight 9 Schinkel on the list, unless it's the unknown Schinkel.

A long overdue updated list, Thank you Trevor.

I believe that there are two different frame and core versions found on Robert Hauschild marked 56 crosses. (At least, mine is different to some others shown here).

Is there a thread that shows the secondary marks possible on the "24"?

Also, I realized I left out (mag) and (non-mag) versions of the Schickle.

Thanks for the support and suggestions guys. In response to Matt's suggestion of links, I've tried adding links to some photos after some of the crosses. If this seems like a good system, I will go through and do it for all of them as time permits.

Linking to photos of the variants is looking really good - so good in fact I think we could take it to the next level.

My suggestion is we create a 'Photo Database' thread (similar to the Knights Cross photo database thread) with just photos of the EK variants. Trevor can then link to these from his Master List and we have an instant complete and cross-referenced resource. [Edit: heh, 'cross'-referenced - no pun intended]

I am sure with our serious EK maker collectors we can produce a photo database to rival any book currently in print in no time at all.

Who wants to get the ball rolling with a dedicated EK variant thread and pictures from their collection?
