L/15 Iron Cross 1 Class

Personally I have doubts about these "Deumer" EK1 Packets.

1. EK1s came in cases, as we all know
2. L/11 is an LDO mark and the Packet is not marked with the LDO logo
3. LDO crosses were not awarded types and the Packet explicitly says, "Only to be opened by the awardee."
4. The stamp looks crude to me (poor quality)

...but I've never held one in my hands and I freely admit I could be wrong on this.

thanks for the opinion Trevor, your opinion on packets are ever very valuable...

I personally don't doubt on those packets, but of course just my opinion.

The few sets I handled had exactly the same cross (similar finish, details of production, ...).
I handle one long time ago from a german vet wich comforted me in this opinion (he never wanted to part from it ). not a scientific proof but enough for me...


An very old thread in a german forum discussed from those packet an show an other one claimed to be from vet source too

I have no explanation about this variation. Those are not of very good quality, maybe done in a hurry...
Out of the direct subject but Deumer produced so many crosses, packets & case variations. If my memory is good (I don't have my docs nor collection with me) , Deumer used 8 different cases, I don't know other maker with such a quantity of variations....

I also already seen some LDO crosses (EK1s & KVK1s) in carton , also saying "Only to be opened by the awardee." (some being w/o doubt for ever in those cartons )
