KVK1 without swords J. Bauer or a copy

    Hi guys,

Please write me yours opinions about it. Maybe is it an orig. Julius Bauer KVK 1.Class without X or maybe is it a fake?

I don't like the material mistake, what we can see on the top the far left cross edge.

    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards,
    Gabor

From what I can see...this cross looks fine for me!

Are you thinking that it might be a Bauer KVK based on the shape of the pin?

Here's an oblique shot of an unmarked Bauer KVK with Swords. Note that the hinge
and catch are not attached in recesses, as they appear to be on your example.

            Hi George,

Yes, I thought that. Seemed to me very well characterized shape of this pin.
            Maybe is my thought wrong?

Ohh, I see now your new post. Thanks for the picture. Yes, I see the different ( hinge and the catch ) between the two KVK's. What do you think which marker made this KVK without swords?

            Best,
            Gabor

I'm not afraid to say that I don't really have an idea who the maker is. But I don't rule it out as being good. It would be interesting to see the piece in person.

Are you sure, Hans? I thought that it might be a Deumer too, but I thought I saw some variation in the obverse pebbling. Here's a marked Deumer. What do you (or anyone else) think?

I think the "pebbling" looks a bit "thin" or maybe dispersed is the right word.

The finish looks like Chrome flaking off.
I have cut out an area of the backside of the cross.
Can anyone explain what I am seeing here?

                      /Flemming

                        Hi George,

that´s not the Deumer version i was thinkning of. What you posted is the "Tapered" pin version, there is a Wide pin variant as well that many wrongly takes as a Bauer cross very often. Since i am not alowed to post links to another forum i´ll send you a PM.
                        Regards

Yes, I'm aware of the wide pin variant (thanks for sending the links!), but it is the differences in the obverse pebbling between my cross and one first posted that lead me to think that the former is likely not a Deumer.

Could so be George but they have been found makermarked L/11 as you can see on one of the links i sent to you.
