    1939 EK1 screwback L/14

I purchased this EK1 screwback from the awardees daughter with several other medals. The back is marked L/14 which is not in Williamson's Iron Cross book. The cross measures 44mm x 44mm and weights 24.7 grams. It is not magnetic. As Williamson's mentioned in his book his EK examples are not all inclusive. Enjoy the pics

        Hi Paul,

Interesting! The cross looks good, the maker mark looks a bit irregular, but as genuine L/14 maker marks aren't common (I don't have a good close-up of one to compare) who's to say what is right - this mark is as good a reference as any. Interesting that the beading on this cross looks like it has the typical Souval beading ridges on the outer cross arm joins. It doesn't have the Souval core though. Maybe Orth sourced components (or entire crosses - how does this core compare to a genuine L/15 EK1 core) from nearby companies and added their mark later?

            Hello,

here comes another L/14 srew back EK1.
As I have sigted it is exactly the same one regarding core, frame and stamp.
I am sure that this one has made by Orth and all both Orth and Souval has supplied each other.
I would like to know whether this cross to be find with a needle as well or it only has been outfitted with the srew back.

            Best Franki

Both are nice and interesting examples

I've much EK's from Orth in my database and there is no EK 1 with needle and this frame.
