    Can anyone put a maker to this piece. To bad the catch
    is off.

      I don't know Biro. The front sure looks like a BH Mayer but I have never seen setup (hinge and pin) at the back on a BH Mayer.

          And here, alternatively, is the 'non-standard' pin and catch on Mark Schroeders' L/18 marked Mayer in this thread Not Another EK1 Spange - Opinions Please, which is why I assumed from the obverse, a Mayer....

          If this is not a Mayer, I need to up-date my records

            IMO the real raptor from Mark looks very much like the Spange from Peter but are not exactly a match. Just look at the date and especially at the "3". I think they're different.

            Just my opinion.

                  But it does match that on my "L/15" Schickle Spange, so I'd say Otto was the maker.

                          George is of course right and I assume the similarities between the two makers stem from being from the same city (Pforzheim) and probably sharing the same die design(er).
