    Iron Cross Ribbons?

Im a bit confused about the ribbons for the iron cross, ive seen them with black, white, and red in the middle. then i also see some black, white, and black in the middle. What is the difference?

Also, I see some Iron cross ribbons in a ribbon bar, and some on the 2nd button. Where are they meant to be worn?

    Thanks

Boy, have you got some work to do..... !!

In a nutshell, they are different colours because they are from different wars.....and can be worn either from the 2nd button hole or the mounted medal bar depending on preference/occaision......

Type '1914 1870 EK2' into the search engine here for the pre '39 bit, and then go here Wehrmacht-Awards.com and click on 'Iron Cross' for the post 1939 bit

    Good luck

The red in the middle is the Iron Cross Second Class and the black in the middle is the War Merit Cross Second Class. The ribbon was worn either at the button hole or on the ribbon bar. There are pictures of it being at the button hole and on the ribbon bar at the same time. Regards Chris

If Iam not wrong the Medal was worn on the bar for parade and dress ocassions, and it was worn in the 2nd button hole for every day and field use. Hope this helps

Only the ribbon (not the medal) was worn in the second buttonhole for field and everyday use.

That's right -- it was worn that way on the award day only.
