It seems artificial aged to me.

Casting lines and unfiled debris in the corners, poor details and a very unbelievable story (ground dug)
There where very few of these awarded I doubt any where lost to be found later

Yes, I agree with all of you, the cross is no good. Plus keep in mind not too many if any of these awards would be ground dug.
