    Iron Cross

    Hello Everyone,
This is my first post. I have a iron cross 1st class I am thinking of selling. A company in america thinks it is authentic but need to examine it. He has valued it at about $400 if authentic. I have attached a few pics. Any info will be greatful. The makers mark is 51 made by Eduard Gorlach & Sohn, Gablonz. I know th box is wrong, its just what it came in.
    Thanks for your help

      Hi Steve,

Unfortunately this one is a very well-known recent fake.

Welcome to the forum There is a lot of good information here, and lots of people to help weed out the bad ones and identify the good ones.
      Best regards,
      Streptile

Hi Steve, and welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your cross is a well known fake.
It appears to be a single piece constuction. I believe that these copies originate in Poland. '51' is not a known maker of EK's.

Have a look around the forum and you will see many original EK1's and you will see the difference.

        Regards - Danny

EDIT: Looks llike the other guys can type a lot faster than me!

            Hi Steve.

Don't let this knock you out. Soon you will be able to tell the good crosses from the bad, and there are always a lot of collectors to help you here. You can really learn a lot from this forum.

I have been collection the EK's seriously for about 2 years now, and I have really learned a lot.
