    KvK1 &2 w/swords, a Combat Award ?

Curious for peoples opinions on whether you feel the KvK 1 or KvKII with swords were more commonly given as a combat award or as a support member or activity award?
Thanks alot for your opioions. Michael

The wording for the award seems to say it can be for combat too, but how often do you feel it was actually given for such instead of given for non-combat action, but to members of military unit?
    Thanks for any opinions. M

You often see texts similar to this one regarding the KvKI >

"The War Merit Cross 1st. class with swords , like the KVK 2, this award could be awarded to military personal as well as to civilians (m/f) for bravery which was not directly connected with frontline actions. For example for maintenance of frontline vehicles and equipment, outstanding performance by the civil defence and security tasks".

Others interpret it's prestiege almost as high as an EKI or II. Opinions?

Although the KVK was a prestigious award, I personally do not equate it in any way to that of an EK's level. Combat and non-combat are very different. That is just my personal opinion. -Ger

I agree , I was just wondering what others thought as I was in a discussion with someone who felt it was or could also be a combat related award. To me it would be redundant to have 2 more awards that were basically the same as EKI's and II's. The KvK was created for a specific purpose and IMO it was not to honor combat actions. N
