I've held a few of the "low feather-vein" fake Junckers, and I've held a few "high feather-vein" originals. To me, besides the vein, the only way to really distinguish them is in-hand, in which case it's pretty easy. The feel and the material is all different between the two. Since you've got this one in your paws, and since you're a good Spange guy, the question I would have for you is, what do you think?

Of course you know that if you come out in support of this one, it would be pretty major news. To my knowledge the only "low feather-vein" Juncker-type EK1 Spangen that I think are good are not from this die, but rather this one:

I know what you mean Jon, you've probably looked at these too much and have Spange eyes.

I kinda like this spange, for me it has more good areas than bad. The question for me is..would Junker have produced something that isn't quite 100% in uniformity? We would like to think that they produced the highest quality and finest pieces but if that's a constant, who knows. If this was a late piece produced under the stress of allied air raids is another question to be considered

The example you show has sharper features as compared to the one Trevor has posted and seems an altogether different spange.
Personally I like the one you show, I always have, I would have it in my collection no problem. No, it doesn't conform entirely to what we expect but I don't think that it's a fake or a copy either.

Trevor, that one you show is 100% awesome, super rare, and authentic!
                  (IMO obviously)

I also have a clear opinion on the one I showed, but wanted to hear yet more opinions, as it's in the process of selling
                  regards

Well, as you know Jon, I am a "bit" paranoid, when it comes to Spange.
I do not think that the one you show is an authentic Spange...I would say fake.
