I would very much like to buy a "Kriegsverdienstkreuz" 1ste class for my collection but before considering to buy it I would like to know if it's an original or a fake.
Could someone please help me out with this?

Hello all!

I have bought the KVKI with swords described in this thread and it looks nice.
<see pictures> The only thing to it is that it has a spot where all the silver is gone and there is a dark zink-like colour. Despite this I am very happy with having it in my collection (I bought it for 120 euros) and I'm not complaining but rather very happy.
