    Knight Cross S&L

Hello, I would like to know how many of these knights crosses exist with non-magnetic core and unstamped nickel silver frame in collections. Band is 45mm wide, has 24 strings and is made of white Baumwolle.Mfg MO, it should be no discussion of this cross, I want to find just the number of pieces.

Probably, the jump ring and the band would have to be original, I'm just interested how many of these pieces exist with unstamped silver plated brass frame and core or in circulation. I've seen that rarest.

This is a post-war B-Type from S&L. The ribbon is a fake, too and the case is not a pre-May 1945 made one.

There exist a lot of theses B-Types in all kind of variations: silver frame, Neusilber frame, brass core, zinc core , ...

The number in collections will never be known (and whoever thinks he can give an approximate number has a very high opinion of himself ... ) but for sure will exceed the number of genuine S&L crosses due to the fact that Geissler and Nimmergut (sic transit gloria mundi - one always has to quote something Latin with him since he likes that very much ...) wrote positive certificates left and right. I guess Geissler is still doing it.

This is the cross with which the most collectors have been deceived.

thank you for your assessment Mr. Maerz, the case is a 57iger, I'm right in assuming that the Knight's Cross is a beautiful piece ,if someone bought it for a fair price? It could not share his original and post made of? The jump ring would have to be an earlier one.

It is - as Mr. Niemann so nicely wrote - as close as one can get to a real cross made by the same company who made real crosses before May 1945. I do not know what that marketing assessment is worth in real money - he thought € 1200.-. I think it is way too much but that is - as always - between buyer and seller.

As long as both parties know what it is it is nobodies business.

Yes ,thats right,I have two positive certificates ,Geissler and Niemann, but I bought the KC.
                  as an postwar piece.
its a really nice one,in my opinion.

                          Ich danke Dir!

At the time of the expertise of Mr. Hartung and Mr. Geissler the existence of the A- and B-type was not yet known, so it is not surprising that they thought this cross to be good since the frame matches genuine award pieces by S&L.

However, it must be said that Mr. Geissler is still insisting on the non-existence of the B-Type and I am still waiting for his rebuttal of the B-Type existence which he announced several years ago.

Is the date of the (correct) Niemann expertise known?

Would it be possible that one time someone stops me Steinhauer and Lueck comparable piece from his collection? Please also nuclear unstamped nickel silver and brass frame. Thanks in advance.
