if you have the book of Maerz-Stimson, this spange is not like as spange presented page 508 or 509.

I have the book, but I know what you mean.
This is the BM clasp, the latter L/16 clasps come from a different die and are in zinc.

BM is Buntmetall like brass, copper etc.

I suppose that it's better than zinc

It is better indeed.
Zinc usually gets zinc-pest which basically makes it to rot away, it also loses the paint or plating pretty easy.

I'm not sure what clasp you mean, I don't think I ever had an L/16 clasp (ek1 that is..)

it's a mistake, i read many posts...and I am confused. you have a L/16 EK2 it seems to me.

After rereading the book of Stimson and Maerz, I conclude that it is indeed an unmarked L/16 (pages 506 and 507 : distinct features of a potential S&L Spange)

It is very similar to the one on page 510 and the same characters as the one on page 509 (except there is no zinc).

the one on page 509 appears to have an eye relief, I am mistaken?
