Ring repair? Why do different materials. Normal?

The split in the ring is not anything to worry about. I have had numerous EKII's with split rings.

              Nice cross!

I would say a 4 looking at the frame.

                S&L produced both with swastika.

                  No ring repair .
Using different material jump rings was done a lot .

The idea was to melt the softer jump ring onto the frame- quickly - without melting the frame .
Some times the solder- with a quit low melting point - holding the 2 frame halves in that spot will melt creating a small frame separation .
