    Black/white base

Has anyone any thought's as to why some EK case's have white base's and some black?

Are black ones left over from WW1?

Are they just simply manufactuers varients?

I did think that black base's were, perhaps, for posthumous awards.

    Any ideas? Suggestions?

    Hi Big Al

A UP MATE , i asked the same question a long time ago , and MARCUS is the man for this , think he is from the uk , he has some interesting theorys ,
Now i have seen a few i think the black bases could have been just a case of "****" we have ran out of white bases , "i know" lets use a KVK base , because comparing them they are the same , I had a theory that maybee the reason was rank or regiment , but thats just a guess mate bit of luck Marcus will jump in hear , i believe he studie them on a wider scale , me i just buy them cos they look wicked , and the black ones make the right award shine.
    nice talking to ya

    regards

    Jack

My 1914 ek1 case has a white base, so that has nothing to do with it.
