Here are some more EK1 ;-) It was a busy day

Here you see a Souval EK1 with iron core.
What is more common? Iron Core or none Iron Core?
Could you check all your Souval EK1? This cross is more "The Ugly Duckling" from Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale .

I like this story and hope this cross is something special and there will be a happy end ;-)

      EK1 with 2nd maker mark [4]

Did you know, that S&L had more than one maker mark?
This cross has also not the typical S&L frame mistake!
What is your opinion to this type? Do you know more maker marks?

        Hi 5tefan :
Exstremly interesting mark on that L59 . One I have never seen and did not have !!!
I would like to keep one for my files -- a good close up if you could make one .

Now to your S&L and maker marks .
Got a surprize for you and others ..... about how many maker mark stamps S&L used ... and possibly more ! Something I had been watching for and collecting some time . I have taken yours and put them in my revised diagram .
These are ones found on EK1s and 2s . Other awards may show more and or different forms and types of the 4 maker mark .

And your observation about the S&L die frame types .
Yes there are a few about 5 or 6 ... still working them . This is the only very unique S&L frame die that is different from their others with no connecting bead and one quit different corner .

                    Very interesting thread!

I am still needing a nice '4' in my collection

Stefan, you have found another '59' mark

Darrell : See now that the exclamation mark supposed to be a ? question mark . I lost all the other pictures to that one . So long ago not sure where this cross/ lobsided mark was being questioned or shown . Only seen 2 .... crocked marks like that . I was almost going to cut it out . Regardless from which site/forum I got it from , ... after a few years the original pictures are gone . Personaly I never liked that peticular mark .

It's just I don't like statements like "Good Cross, Mark Fake" when there is no proof either way. If we were to deem all marks fake because they didn't show up perfectly symmetric and evenly stamped, Juncker badges would have been deemed fake decades ago.

However, you also have to question if one manufacturer had so many marking stamps. Considering how prolific they were in the manufacturing of all types of badges / crosses, they would have gone through a few during the war.

I've got a match for this maker mark sitting on a miniature.

                            cheers
