Personally I think that the "three dot" issue of the K&Q Knights Crosses can be reduced to the following:

- "three dot" RKs from K&Q have been encountered in numerous REAL wartime groups (and I do NOT count the numerous special and ridiculously bold Niemann productions). Conclusion: there are three-dot wartime! examples, no doubt at all.

- no solid evidence, other than nebulous hints, rumors, or the like, has been produced until this very day that there was or still is a post-war production of the K&Q Knights Cross.

This does not necessarily mean that there was none. But for serious collectors and researchers there should be more than just some so far unproven statements. It could be - as has been proposed - that a stock of unissued K&Q Knights Crosses was discovered after the war and that theses mint examples made their way into the collector community (and into shady groups ....).

Dietrich, Could you help me draw possibly a timeline and understanding of the Paul Stoll RK that started this topic, versus the Erich Hartmann RK that is shown in your wonderful reference on page 189 and then again on 201?

Your research explains that Hartmann private purchased his absolutely "clinically" mint K&Q in a Vienna shop in either Sept or Oct of 1944. This cross is void of the 4 "dot" flaw. Therefore, drawing a time line of say Nov 1944 or after, when the die flaw probably appeared on the K&Q frames.

Moving ahead to the Stoll RK. In this beautiful collection it shows that Stoll's RK
does in fact exhibit the 4 "dot" flaw at a date of 2 Sept, 1944.

My question is, does the Stoll RK move back the timeline of perhaps when the K&Q "dot" flaw may have appeared ?

And the second question of: coulld perhaps the Hartmann K&Q RK that is void of the frame flaw and sold on the open market in violation of the PKZ laws, had been a much earlier manufacture cross that just happened to be setting in this Vienna shop at this later 44 date, when he privately purchased it?

Hi all,

I think that the 12 clock error much earlier than October, 1944 as K & Q Knight's Cross was born. There are too many very very likely authentic groups by pointing out that the deadline is much earlier. In my opinion, the first K & Q knight crosses with the error have already been awarded border 43rd
This opinion I have formed in the computation of sales discounts!
Also, I have two K&Q groups in my collection from December 43 with the 12 clock error.
