Good point Don, I had not thought of it that way, I guess I looked at it in a very narrow view. I'm sure that Goering - not sure if I spelt that right either - was not the only 1 that was picky in what his medals looked like. If you get an award, especially for barvery, you would be proud of it no doubt, and if there were better versions I would imagine you would want the best example to wear. Yeah after France and western Europe was conqured, there were parades and even soldiers demobilized. So I would imagine that people would have shoped around. I was not aware that there was a combat set and a parade set, i was under the impression they would only have 1 set. I read somewhere that the Award Document had more prestige than the medal itself, I cant remeber where I read that though.
