Guys I have had an interesting point brought to my attention by a friend, if you look closer at the badge in post 1 first picture and pic in post 2 you can
see the black paint differ (looks cleaner) from the outer part of cross , looks like possibly repainted or touched up ??

No touch up. Just looks like the center of the arms were worn/rubbed.
Just looks like more dust/dirt around the edges & corners of the arms.
