If your buying a 57' cross, maybe, but you would have to post that in the correct forum

In the pictures it looks like an "early" 57er pattern DKiS.

The DKiS was related to the KVK series of awards and the 57 Versions had a plain faced KVK with swords.

To answer your question, it does look like a good one to me. Where are the experts on the 57' stuff?

I thought Don and I did a fair job of addressing if it was real and what our opinions were. I am old enough to have seen a lot of the 57er series awards being worn by BW officers when I was in the Army and it was a pleasure which borke up the mundane nature of NATO Parades and reviews. I like these and the DKiS is very rare for the 1957 series even though many more were made than wear worn by WWII awardees in BW Uniform. I talked to one RKT and he had told me he had his awards and did indeed have a full set of 1957 awards the Government either gave him or he purchased after he had lost all of his originals as a Soviet POW.

Indeed you and Don were spot on; I agree, it is real but if I remember correctly there were different makers of this award and perhaps a more "57" guy could comment on that aspect as well.

I traded a catalog in the 80s from one company that sold all the awards and ribbon bars I got from a RKT and was too stupid to keep it.

What's with the rudeness? we're here to help eachother out! Instead of saying "are you serious?" just tell him it'd be better off in the 57er forum.

No need to post in the 57er forum ... I can tell you right now this piece is pure and utter crap .

Not only is it poorly made, its even a copy of what a 57er DKis should look like.
If the seller is guaranteeing authenticity, he will probably write it with pencil on a piece of paper ... .

Value ... well ... maybe if you melt down the metal ....

There was no rudeness aside from assumptions, I do not think it is a "fake" just an early example. Experts of 57 awards is a fun Noun. Several firms made them and I was there in the early 80s talking to Staff officers that were WWII vets so please enlighten me.
