Very special Otto Schickle Spanish Cross

I want show you this very unusual spanish cross with swords.
MM L/15. The ends of the swords were removed..
Has anyone seen something like this .
The cross is from a former Kriegsmarine member.

Maybe they tried to make a SC without swords?

There exists examlpes, where the swords have been cut of, at the center disc. But I have never seen it done this way before though.
But I can't think of any other explanations.

It is possible that no SC w/o swords are delivered and there were some with sword from the manufacturer changed. Navy participants received this award very late.

Never seen this before but the cross is original IMO

Maybe he broke one accidentally off and wanted it to be symmetrical?

I dont know , why this cross was changed.
Here is the photo I have made yesterday with my iphone. It shows the former owner.

Yes it is so !. but very hard to see.
Sorry but i only have the after war soldbuch.It was issued by the british forces.
As prisoners of war the boat and the crew was used to evacuate mines.
