    Cased EKI, unknown maker

    Gentlemen,

I just wanted to present my cased EKI, which was offered to me on the Arlon show last year. The seller also had an early EKI screwback, but I missed it because I didn't have enough cash on me...
Both pieces were sold for app. half the normal price...
I searched the net, but I couldn't establish the maker. Can anyone help with this? The velvet base in the case is loose, and it is marked with '621.KB.'
I like this set, because the EK has left a nice imprint on the cushioned lid. The vet or his family also kept two other medals in this case, imprints of which (a long service medal?) still can be seen on the inside of the lid.

    Enjoy,

    Lucius

Maybauer , yes ... is there a partial mark on the top of the pin ? ... or just a dent ? At times the 7 is very incomplete .

That is a very nice set, the indentations in the case really make it special

            Douglas,

            there's no marking whatsoever visible.
Well, now I have two Meybauers: one early cased and unmarked, one of later date with partial '7' mark on pin. Meybauer seems to be a rather big manufacturer of awards (especially crosses), am I right? From the comments I get this is also a highly appreciated maker, I think.

Maybauer made good quality awards .
This is what I was refering to . If it is just a dent ...then its just a dent .

                  Douglas,

I looked at it under a magnifying glass and you could be right. But if it IS a '7', then it's a reversed one. When I think of it, it looks almost the same as the marking on my other Meybauer. Thanks for pointing that out to me!

Even though the mark is lower on the pin it is not uncommon to find very incomplete stamped 7's ... a lot of times just the very bottom of the 7 that is very wide .

This is the '7' I am used to the very unimpressive stamp to such a beautifully made cross

                        Hi Nick,

the same marking as on my second Meybauer.

But the one that started the thread has what seems to be an 'inverted' '7'. Could also be a misstamped marking. Very sloppy for such a high-end manufacturer...

Seems to me that here is really visible that frame used by Maker 23 or am I wrong Trev ?

I agree, and in my opinion this EK1 was made by maker 23, not Meybauer.

However, this is only a theory.

The frame is by maker 23. This much we can say with certainty.

It is also a very beautiful EK.
                            Best regards,
