    LDO Iron Cross Screwback case

Is anyone familiar with this LDO style screwback case for the Iron Cross? It has a red/purple base color. Thanks for your help. Bruce

Doubtful it is an EKI case with that color base! It would be cream or Black for an EK with Black being the more common color I think? post it in the Case section of the forum for more results in your quest! here is the link to the section... http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...aysprune=&f=67

Base is not original, the place for the antirotatin pin is missing.
Rest is ok. Here it is my one.

            Screwback War Merit Case?

No I do not believe the base has been replaced. It is made of a similar base backing (ersatz fiber material) you find on the late war DK cases. Someone has suggested that this might be for a screwback war merit cross.

I agree with Kevin and Fabri that this is not a typical base for an EK. I've never seen this color used on any TR case of this style. Can you remove the base easily, without damaging the case to check what lies beneath? Maybe it's been re-covered ?

Apart from the base, the case seems to be original.

on the other hand. The cloth could have faded, is it really that purple in hand?

Yes it has more of a purple hue...I am going to hold out and say this has not been replaced. The construction is proper just not the color!
