Ok, now I need to learn a little more about the Spanish Cross. These were awarded between 1936 and 1938? Is that correct? Is it known about how many were awarded? Can you guys tell me all the makers who made them? There are, as far as I know, bronze with and without swords, and silver with and without swords also diferent silver content. Also the next of kin award. Is the next of kin also bronze and silver with and without swords? Am I missing any? Do I ask enough questions? Are you all falling asleep from all my questions? Should I just shut u......., no wait, I dont think I want the answer to that one!
        Best, Sal

Oh, one more. I know they come in blue cases as well as green and red, but are there any others? I would like to get one in bronze with the red and green case if anyone knows of a nice one.
          Thanks, Sal

            Hi Sal,

That's a nice looking case and cross (with mini - is the mini loose or fitted to the insert with loops?)!

If possible, could you show good pics of the upper lower case inserts (without the cross)? Also, if the lower insert is loose, a shot under there would be appreciated. And to be a real pain, could you post the case dimensions?

Nothing sinister in my request. A case arrived the other day with mismatched inserts (it looks your SpanX case but with late war LW case inserts).

            Kind Regards
            Mike K
            Regards
            Mike

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

                Hi Mike,
Yes I will post the pics you want, give me a day or 2 to do it .
The mini is loose but allegedly they came together from the same fellow. If that is true then I have a theory: The mini looks worn but the cross looks pretty prestine so I speculate that the guy was wounded badly and was no longer fit for service and thats why he wore the mini much more. Well it makes me happy to think so anyways . Boy you asked almost as many questions as I did .
Brian, it is S&L I believe.
                Best, Sal

Oh, and the insert is not loose so I can't give you a pic under it

Very nice Sal. I told you at Stuttgart and will repeat it again "Congrats ". But then again you had the Grandmaster with you to choose such a nice cross.

Now I have a question for you, how many times did you had a look at this cross during your trip through Europe ??

                    Best,
                    Pascal

                        Dear Sal,

I transferred your post to Crosses, you might get even more reactions there.

Btw, you forgot to mention the gold class (swords only) and the next of kin comes only in one form, bronze without swords.
                        Cheers, Frank

That is an absoultely fanatastic piece you have there

There's some good general info, which you've probably already read up on, in the awards info section of our own forum.

                            Congrats on your find.

                              Hi Guys,
Pascal, Thanks and I couln't tell you how many times I looked at it, I tried not to but I couldn't help it! it was a LOT though!
Thomas, it was 1400 Euros. It was nice to meet you as well

Frank, thanks as always for the info! Now I need one of each! let me know if you see any cased ones
Jacques, You see, I must learn! You better send all yours to America for educational purposes!
Al, Thanks, and thanks! I should go read that again its been a while since I did. But I dont think it had some of the specifics that I was after.
Mike, still waiting to take pics but the dimensions are: Damn! My tape measure only has inches on it. I,m guessing thats no good for you. Well I can get one with metric measurements. Will post dimension with the pics you requested. Sorry about that, I was going to measure and I discovered the inches thing.
                              Best, sal
