    335 marked 1939 EK II???

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2104146299

This has to be a fake, there was never a 335 maker of the WWII EK’s, the ribbon looks like it would glow brightly under black light. Is it just me or does the edges of the EK look too sharp to be original?

YES ! YES ! YES! YES!

A perfect example of what I had said on the thread about bags.
These EKs and THESE bags are the ones a number of dealers were saying they couold order by the boxload.

Take a good look at the baggie folks, I betcha quite a few folks out there have them inthe collection.

If it wasnt for the bull**** stamp on the ring, this piece would be "good".

This EK is a great(?) fake. It is marked "333". Just compare the loop and the swastika to an original. The envelope is unmarked.

        Greetings

          Re: auction, above

Go to the guy's "about me" page, scroll down and take a look at his KettenKrad!! A nice "collectible".

I believe these things were initially designed to be air-mobile gun tractors. I think they towed a 37mm antitank gun?

The Kettenkrad is a nice toy for older boys

              Heinrich is right

I had another look and yes Heinrich is right, it is “333” not “335” Here is the marking at 300x, it appears that on these pieces the numbers are stamped one at a time and not the three digits at once. The last digit is deformed but you can clearly see at the bottom half of the 3.

P.S. As for the Kettenkrad I think it would make a nice wheelchair.

The seller has corrected the hallmark to "333" after receiving "an email from someone" What's the difference, they're both bogus numbers!

Well whoever the kind sole was who sent the ebay eller the email, your job is not yet finished. You failed to point out the fact that 333 was never an LDO makers mark on ANY third Reich award.
I have a vague memory of someone mentioning on this forum that these 333 and 666 marked pieces were produced during the 80’s in Vienna or Munich.

                    Jeepers!!

Maybe late 1980s-but I first saw them in early 1995 and I know for certain they were in production by early 1994; they were coming over to the USA via Spain from the UK. Apparently, they were produced in England. They are nicely done and the numbers used were 333,666 or "999" in the original runs.
Look at the old archived 333 EK posts for the story on these fakes.

Did you read the sellers "about me" at the end of his screen name? It says he doesn't sell reproductions as originals - Also that he's been collecting 3rd Reich for over 30 years. You would think he would know SOMETHING was wrong with that # with that many years experience. By the way, there were 3 bid retractions, 2 of them noting the bogus number.

The "333" and "666" EK2s were distributed by Herr Floch from here, but i believe they were made in Prag!

Take it from me, those fakes have been out a bit longer than people realise.

I bought one of these 'mint' EK2's around about 1990/91.

I still have it and am still amazed at the quality. If they had never marked them with the bogus numbers I still think we'd be calling them original!

I'm looking at this old thread.
I've heard that Floch produced them, but also form somebody on this Forum that he had tracked them to the Midlands (UK).
Scary to think that they've been out there for 13 (+) years now-
