honestly I have had always problems to id all unmarked EKIIs with this design.
A combination of elements normally let me think that could be a Brehmer, for example the frost finish, paint type, beads that seems more fat, number 3 on 1939 date seems just a bit different than S&L, all them together in the same cross. But as you can see I always use "seems" because also I use my sixth sense that it 's not a certain datum.

Thank you for the explanation. I do see the points you raise. And also I understand your "sixth sense" -- sometimes the most reliable guide.

The difficulty is with earlier examples. Brehmers without the plinth for the swastika, without the mirror-finish rims, etc. I find them to be extremely close to S&Ls.

I bet a very good, large photo of a "1939" and a "1813" from both an S&L and a Brehmer would be helpful for us to see the differences between the number designs.

Your cross at the start is a common worn S&L 1st frame with their 2nd core .
