How are they to the feel ? rather soft or hard/stiff ?
Have you tested with a blacklight (maybee stupid question)
In my opinion they look original.

Beyond the quality of the material and lack of glowing under UV as well as thickness 45-48 mm, is there charcteristics of war period vs post war ribbons that help in identification. Some have suggested that there are characteristics of the ends of full length ribbons that distinguish them from post war. Thanks

...their is, of course, the tell tale 'white stitching' on 57's, (of which their is no evidence above)
but then I know you already know that.....

Thanks Marshall-
No I was not referring to '57 ribbons. What I am asking specifically is the difference between post war (prior to '57) ribbons and war time ribbons. Examing the war time ribbons that you have, do you see a difference at all in the end of the long ribbon posted compared to wartime ribbons? Thanks

I´ll try to help some more.
These ribbons are for the Iron Cross. They are original WW 2. Soft to the feel. They do not glow. Note the ends. See how the ends "flatten out".
The width of Iron Cross Ribbons can be from 27 mm to 33 mm. I think that Knight Cross ribbons can variate in width to.
Cheers.

Here is an absolute fake ribbon for the Knight Cross. It glows like neonlights and is very soft and flimsy, way to soft, like a shirt.
The red color is not red, but pink on this ribbon.
Cheers.

Here is a ribbon for my early 1957 Knight Cross. This ribbon has the right "feel" (soft). It does not glow and is considered WW 2 original by other collectors.
Cheers.

My final ribbon.
I bought a few of these Iron Cross ribbons that the seller cut from a roll.
This ribbon does not glow. It smell old, but is very stiff and hard to the feel.
The seller say its not, but i think this ribbon is made after the war, but before the "glowing" came on the market.
Cheers.

I do not hae the ribbons in hand. I was looking to buy, but was unsure. It seems as though beyond the stitching characteristics and dimensions as well as lack of glowing under UV, the best indicator is the soft feel? I have two RK ribbons that have the soft feel and one that is a little stiffer. This is the problem in that I think it is very difficult to tell a post war/pre'57 ribbon vs the real deal. Thanks Peter- I guess one has to literally have this in hand to feel, as the other characteristics do not insure originality.
