This is my first WWII era EKII...

I purchased this at a small out-of-the-way antique store near Peoria, Illinois. I've had success at this store in the past in purchasing interesting WWII vintage American military items but this is the first cross I've run across at his store. Is this the "real deal" or did I strike out? It is marked '7' on the ring.
I went out on a limb and paid $49 for it so hopefully I did okay.
    Thanks!

    Kim

No problems with this one -- a late one with Meybauer's frighteningly flawed frame.
    Best regards,
    Streptile

Looking for ROUND BUTTON 1939 EK1 Spange cases (LDO or PKZ)

              Thanks everyone! I was hopeful!

Yes the center black portion is magnetic.

I have half a dozen WWI versions of this cross but this is my first WWII version. You are right...addictive!

                  OKay, dumb question.

When you say "flawed frame", your talking about the poor quality of the ribbed silver area?

A flaw is f.ex. what I have framed here:

As Flemming showed, a flaw is just that...a die flaw in the frame.

In some cases, companies had a few dies to create the frames. Some makers like this one and say, Juncker of Berlin had certain flaws which can often help to identify their frames easier. This was generally just from the sheer volume of frames made from that particular die. They often started small and progressed to the point that a company had to either get a new frame die, or just kept up with production with the result being a cross like you have shared here, which has a large amount of die flaws.

Nothing is wrong with this of course. It doesn't reduce from the value of the cross or anything but can clue us in on possible time periods of the war that it was produced.
