    CLOTH - Iron Cross 1st Class 1939

    Hello all,

Can you please view this thread for me....

    http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=48753

I can't post photos of the items that I want viewed.

I was asked if I would like to purchase this. I do not know the man, and I do not know a thing about cloth items. Please tell me if you think it is original.

Was it manufactured in the same manner as other era cloth items? Please let me know either way. Thank you.

well, I've never seen a period photo of one in wear, but that's not to say they didn't exist. I can believe that it could have been a feasible, but rare, private purchase item, and maybe a few different varieties may have existed.
Saying all that, I've seen a truckload of reproductions, and IMHO this is one of them.
I believe an original one has been discussed here in the distant past...?
    regards

Boy oh Boy! Proceed with extreme caution on that one. Do a search under Cloth EKs. I have seen several threads on these in the past.

            Bill...

Unfortunately, the E-stand archive has recently been overhauled, so the post is no longer there, but forum member 'Michel' was recently offering one for sale that IMO was 100% good. I'm sure if you contact him, he will oblige with photos...but you will need to have a large wallet.

It was practically identical to the one Heinrich Neumann wears (in a period photograph) in both 'the Iron Cross of 1939' and 'the Iron Time'....

If you own neither of these books, you should probably NOT be contemplating buying a cloth EK.

            Regards..
