...and here is the "4" version of these Latvian fakes

    I emailed the seller:
Knights Cross to the Iron Cross ORIGINAL Item number: 3909528134
This Knight Cross is NOT original WW 2.
It´s a wellknown FAKE. These fakes comes marked with a 4 marking and other type of markings.
You should stop selling it as original.

I got a very angry reply back from him, where he say he will contact the police and that i´m a wanker

I manage to delete the reply so i can not show it here.

        Cheers.

Here is the second reply i got when i wanted to send him a photo of the same cross, but with a 4 and 935 marking.
This time i saved the reply.

All other markings are as-correlated with the relevant reference works and
the central decoration is of the correct height. I have numerous other
pictures here and bidders (with a feedback history of buying $2000 items and
above) are interested, and after recieving my additional pictures and with
dialogue from myself are willing to bid.

I also refute this is a fake because my Grandfather actually brought the
damn thing back from the war and it sat in a medal case in his cupboard for
the best part of 60 years, and every time I visited him for 30 of those
years, we had a look at the thing!

Unless you can quote extensive chapter and verse as to why this is a fake
and not 'it has a 4 mark' when there is no 4 mark visible and 'I have a
similar fake marked 935' (I can very much believe that, no real KC was
          marked 935 so that's obviously a fake, this is a Godet so 800 / 21 is
according to spec) then I am forced to treat you like just another keyboard
commando with too much time on his hands.

          Sincerely,

          Harvey

          Cheers.

Frankly I'm surprised eBay has allowed this auction to run for as long as it has -- they seem to be getting better at shutting these down more quickly. Perhaps only searchers from the US, France and Italy would be blocked...

As to Harvey, I find it very telling that he has not put a reserve on this 'rare & valuable' cross. If I had a dollar for every EK that I've been offered "from my grandfather's collection that he brought back from the war", I'd be able to afford to spend more time on this cool site!

Not an expert but I wouldn't buy them.

                David.
At Rathau on the Aller, the CO of 5th Royal Tanks advanced on foot to take a cautious look into the town before his tanks moved in. He encountered one of his own officers, a huge Welshman named John Gwilliam who later captained his country's rugby team, 'carrying a small German soldier by the scruff of his neck, not unlike a cat with a mouse.' The Colonel said: 'Why not shoot him?' Gwilliam replied in his mighty Welsh voice: 'Oh no, sir. Much too small.'

It would help a bit if you guys could send him an email/messege, and remind him that the cross is a fake. No hard words is needed, just the truth.

                  Cheers.

If it was sitting in his grandfather's display and he was so keen to look at it every time he saw his grandad, you'd think he would not want to sell it (or at least sell it for what a real RK is worth). After all to look at it ever time he saw his grandad must mean that he had some interrest in the cross, probably monetary!!!

Wait a minute, I just figured it out... ...His Grandad must have been Latvian!

Just my opinion but what do I know.

That was a good one, Shane.

Does anyone have the sellers ebay name??? I never did look at the rest of his auctions. It would be nice to know who sells these fakes.
                              Thanks,
                              Eric
