Strange markings on Ek 2nd class

I got this one in a mixed lot a few weeks back. Just started to look it over now and noticed something a bit strange on the obverse and reverse of the 12 o'clock arm. To the naked eye it looks like a pattern but under 60x magnification it looks like imperfections. There are also some less impressed marks to the 6 o’clock arm on the obverse, in the same position on the reverse. My gut feeling is saying bad manufacturing job. I would appreciate a few other sets of eyes on this one.

    Best Regards

    Adam

          Maybe a vice or pliers?

          Best regards,

That's what I thought, looks like someone has clamped this one into a bench vice, the teeth inside the arms leave a similar pattern when you clamp down too hard on something. Maybe they secured it there to buff the silver frame or something like that.
Interested in candid/private Hitler, KIA, and Holocaust photos. Also any AH related memorabilia--silverware, linen, crystal, china...
            All the best,
