Does anybody know if there are any militaria dealers in (or around) the city of Prague (Czech Republik) ??.
I'm going there for a holiday, and it would be cool if i can find some great items there !.....

Hello Ron,
This very same question was asked not to long ago. Some members said that a few antique dealers are selling some bogus items. Others said one could find something occasionally in antique stores. I think you need to go and tell us what YOU find and inform us. Have a great holiday.

Hi Ron,
There are some small antiqueshops where you run into some nice stuff ocasionally.
Most of it however already disappeared over the years, and you won't find anything spectacular anymore.
We are going for a vacation in the Czech Republic for the 7th time this year, and we have scooped a great part of the country.
The majority of german militaria that is sold, is fake.
(Usually very good copies which are commonly sold at about the same price as the originals, so be very cautious.)

Always ask if they are authentic, they usually give a straight answer.
I guess they don't mind admitting it, as long as you ask for it yourself.

If you're interested in fifties and sixties stuff better go over there with a truck.
To the Czechs it's crap, they're glad they can finally buy "modern"stuff.

Eastblock

Watch out when dealing with the former eastblock countries! They are no virgins. There are so many fakes you wouldn´t believe it and they sometimes make them real good, too.

the fakes are very, very well made so buy what you trust for
200 % only.
Over 90 % of the items for sale is fake, over 50% would fool many collectors.

Hallo Ron,
Beware of dealers in Prag, they sell nearly all fakes at crazy prices! Trust me on this one, I know a lot of collectors here in Vienna, who went to Prag before 1990 and even then they sold fakes!
