    Assmann EKI Schinkel

Thanks to Michael, I am adding this Assmann to my Schinkel collection. I thought I had them all, but now know I don't, I think the only one missing now is the three piece Meybauer Schinkel. Jim

Great score! Very nice shape as Ben said, and very uncommon piece.

Stefan, Michael or someone in the know will have to answer this question, as I buy what is advertised to add to my collection and I know nothing about the different makers and how they make their crosses. Jim

                    Hi Stefan,

The (very) short answer is that this piece matches (frame, reverse SB hardware on SB and pin on pinback, materials, and construction) with common Weimar-era 1914 EKs presumed to be made by Assmann.

This subject deserves a longer thread with all the evidence and illustrations. I hope some time soon I can start one.
                    Best regards,
                    Streptile

                      Ek

I have looked at the picture of the Assman EKI that is in the "Iron Cross 1st Class" book and if you look at the bottom of the "1" you will see and indent (what is hard to see) and when compared with the my EK you can also see the same indent. Jim

I think that Trevor has provided as good of an answer as there is.

Trevor well answered to this question (as ever )
On this one no 100% proof of an ASMANN product but a high probability

I think remembering a partial comparison as been done on GCA & maybe SDA or an other german Forum

                          best

Is this info @ "Iron Cross 1st Class" book bullet proofed?

We come to no conclusions as to whether any particular EK 1 was or was not made by Assmann in The Iron Cross 1. Class.
