    EK1 screwback. Which maker?

    Hello,
I presume that this EK1 could be a Zimmermann or B.H. Mayer made cross. Is it possible? What do you think abou? Thanks in advance
    Val

To judge this cross I would like to see a photo of the front, straight-on. The core reminds me of this fake. I think it's bad (suspicious core, no mark), but I can't call this one yet, personally.

    Best regards,

I agree with Trevor on both counts.

Although there are unmarked SB's around (beuwulf has an unmarked L/16, I have an unmarked L/54) I can't place this one.

I think it's a fake to, and yes, please post the pics straight on, and not under an angle or partially rotated.
It only makes it harder to judge the item...

Please Trevor, could you post a bigger pic of your cross so that it's possible to compare the two frames? Thanks

IMO 100% fake. What a horrible artificial patina on back !

            Hi Val,

It's not my cross, but rather a fake I saw recently, so I have no more photos.

Yours is also a fake as I can now see clearly, although the frame is different from the one I showed.

I think your cross is a pretty good fake -- it's still possible to uncover it with one good photo, but who knows what the future will bring?
            Best regards,

I agree that it is fake, an that they are getting better.
The frame seems to be from a laser-cut die, like the Latvian fakes from a few years ago.

They change cores and frames to come with a " new original" every time...

              best regards,
              Ben
