Mystery Solved???
Well, the Iron Cross finally arrived! It appears the iron core has been removed. I can see where there is a space between the crosses outline and the base. It’s possible (I hate to assume) that it was removed, fell out, de-nazified, who knows? I guess it was painted black to cover it’s loss. For the price I paid, I didn’t expect anything spectacular, about what I got, a relic from the past. I am not a pro, but I think it’s possible it’s a Iron Cross 1st Class, minus it’s iron core. It’s going into my collection, until I can a better specimen, so it’ll have to do for now. I really enjoy hearing from everyone, it’s been an education.
I just recently purchased a Silver Tank Destroyer Badge, it’s in rough shape, On the back is some tape (?) with the ink marks: F.A.D. I’ll post more about that later. Thanks Again!
