    Is this core repainted?

    Ciao a tutti

I'd like your opinion about this core, repainted or good? I always have a doubts when I see the black finish on the core.
    Thanks, Giancarlo.

No it hasn't been repainted, maybe oiled or cleaned.

There is lot of painting on the frame it seems, I think it can be ok. Mostly on S&L crosses I saw it.

Thanks guys for your fast answer.
Now I have another question, thought better (I don't speak very well english, sorry).
I agree with you that the core is good, but why on the ring are present a lot of black finish? Have a look about this picture:

                Hi

the cross has definitely been "repainted" or "touched up" after assembly IMO. Could be factory done who knows.

I also think there has been a 'touch up' to the paint. It is not usual to see black paint on the rims of a 3 piece construction cross.

i had a cross in the same condition ( some paint in the beading ect), i personally think if a collector was going to touch up a cross, he would be more careful IMO

For me it looks like it's factory made.
It's known if a cross had a color problem a template was put on the frame and the core repainted and distributed.
