DK German Cross Silver Luftwaffe Backing

Could you Gentlemen with more experience than me as an untrained individual please have a look at the attached pictures and let me know your opinion as to the originality of the item.

My thoughts are purely based on what I see...Would the Wehrmacht allow a piece of such a high grade get passed quality control with the cloth backing not relating to the main design of the cross?

    Many thanks
    Doug

        Hello Dietrich,
I meant that the embroidered points of the cross do not match the points on the backing material therefore I would assume that it would not have passed muster in the quality control department.

New embroidered badges produced by the military today have a die cutter that produces perfectly cut examples every time and I am sure the same technology would have been available to the manufacturers back in the 30s and 40s?

Ah!!! I see what you mean I am assuming maybe wrongly that the backing would be hand cut?
Remember I am new at this game so it is all a learning curve for me

          Hi Doug,

you see that quite often and it is not a reason of concern. When the piece was sewn to the tunic it wasn't that obvious anymore anyway. The important parts to look at is the wreath and the overall construction and material used.

            Thank you Dietrich,
The cross does look like a nice one apart from the two patches of mothing.
So are you happy that it is a good cross?
Many thanks for your time and expertise
            All the best

I wonder if the wreath has been buffed or cleaned. Some of the hight points lack the level of detail that one might expect.

Otherwise, this cross looks fine to me.
