Thanks but I was told the core is non magnetic, it also does not have a number 26 on the pins seen in Mayers cross. Is this normal?

I would say that the non magnetic core is not normal for Mayer.
I think the seller sayd a wrong thing.

I agree. Perhaps ask him if the core will "attract a magnet"? Because, in fact, no EK has a "magnetic" core.
