    Is This Unmarked EKI a K&Q?

    Hi Guys

    I'm still trying to get to grips with unmarked EKs but I'm learning (I hope) with the help of Messrs Maerz's and Stimpson's new book on the EKI.

    I think this is an early unmarked K&Q - would that be correct?

    It is slightly convex and has a magnetic core. I'm intending to display it with other awards for a pilot awarded the EKI in May 1940. Would this example be about right on the timeline?

    Yes Tim, it is.

    the typical shape of the "3" is the biggest give-away

        It could be the lighting but the date detail seems different to any shown by Maerz and Stimpson, The second 9 seems to lie back more, the foot of the 1 has almost separated feet and the top of the 3 is distinctly shaped - closest to the 'A' Core but not quite? It might be my imagination!
